Welcome to the home of UC San Diego's very own racing team!

The Society of Automotive Engineers club on the UC San Diego campus is dedicated to design, fabrication, and testing of an open-wheel prototype race car for the Formula Society of Automotive Engineers (FSAE) competition held during various parts of the year all throughout the country. The Triton Racing team places students in an optimal position to gain hands own knowledge while applying classroom theory in a real world setting. As a team, we strive to push and test our engineering and design capabilities so that we may extend the boundaries of innovation and establish ourselves in the forefront of FSAE.

  • Project Room and Machine Shop Safety
I've attached some documents for everyone to review and fill out. The first document, labelled participantsae.pdf is REQUIRED by all members to fill out before they can work in the project room. Because I'm giving this to you later in the week I'll allow it slide this one weekend if you don't have it. Starting May 9th (one week from today) no one is allowed into the project room until they have filled out the form. By allowed in the project room, I mean watching too. The second document is for the machine shop. There is nothing to fill out or print out, I just want everyone to read it because we will eventually be working in there often and need to know these things. Respect Tom and his rules, otherwise you'll hear it from both of us.

Thank you everyone and I look forward to seeing you there this weekend.

  • GBM Week 4 and 5
    Hello all!

Hopefully a good amount of you are reading this. I am current working on getting a better website up as this sites is not exciting. Anyways, I did not post the GBM stuff from week 4 so I will have the power point from last week and this week at the bottom of this post.
Last week we reiterated why we are going with an EV (see 'Electrical Vehicles Demystified' powerpoint). This week was about how crappy we did in competitions in the past and how we will do way better this time around (see 'GBM 4-30-12' powerpoint).

Sorry for the late posts. Oh, and happy midterms!

  • GBM's of Spring 2012 Kickoff
    Hello all you petrol heads!

We just had our first GBM of the Spring 2012 quarter this past Monday. The topic of this meeting was an Introduction to Tires in which our present design leader Matt D'Ooge gave us a fine lecture on the material. There was an official announcement for the car we are building for competition, the TR-13E - Electric race car.  If you missed the this meeting or want to know more about tires download the powerpoint below.

There will be a GBM every week this quarter on Monday's at 7pm in EBU-II 479. Also, work days are every Saturday at 10am in the project room (EBU-I basement) unless otherwise noted. We are currently working on rebuilding the TR-11 engine.
